With the focus on boosting intimate wear manufacturing industry in India, India’s biggest intimate apparel trade fair, Galleria Intima is set to kick open on 26th August 2015 in New Delhi. The intimate wear manufacturers target to make India the next big manufacturer of lingerie in the world, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Make in India programme.
Out of the total global trade of apparel for the financial year 2013, which stood at US $ 379 billion, only 9 per cent was intimate wear, indicating the huge unexplored potential of the sector. India’s intimate wear accounted for 4 per cent of the total global trade in the intimate apparel category in the financial year 2013 with exports worth US $ 1.2 billion.
More than 1,000 Indian brands are set to showcase at Galleria Intima along with 80 exhibitors from more than 10 countries.
