Thirteen apparel and leather companies from Bangladesh are participating in the ongoing Fashion World Tokyo 2019 fair that commenced on 27 March.
The three-day event held at Tokyo Big Sight will see the above-mentioned companies showcase some of their best quality fashionable products.
Rabab Fatima, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan, visited the stalls of Bangladesh companies on the opening day and interacted with the participating entrepreneurs.
The first day also witnessed a seminar on ‘Recent Developments of Bangladeshi Apparel Industry’ that was organised by the Bangladesh embassy in association with Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau.
Over 130 buyers and representatives of Japanese firms too participated in the seminar. The seminar ended with the question-answer and networking session.
It is pertinent to note here that the seminar also got support from United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Japan External Trade Organization, Japan-Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Co-operation of The Japan and Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as Japan Textile Importers Association.
While expressing delight at the participation of Bangladesh, the Ambassador reportedly said that this event was a perfect business matching opportunity for Japanese buyers and Bangladeshi firms.
She also said that Bangladesh is globally the second largest garment exporter and Japan continues to remain Bangladesh’s number one destination for garment products in Asia. “Knitwear is, at present, our number one export item to Japan,” further added Ambassador Fatima.
