Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) is going to organise the 9th edition of GAPEXPO (Garment Accessories & Packaging Expo) from January 24, 2018, at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital Dhaka.
The four-day-long fair is aimed at showcasing latest products, machinery and raw materials to attract local as well as international manufacturers and buyers, stated a press release issued by the trade association.
Along with the BGAPMEA, ASK Trade and Exhibition Private Limited, India, and Zakaria Trade and Fair International will jointly support in organising the garment accessories expo.
BGAPMEA will also introduce export trophy to the accessories exporters.
Furthermore, Bangladesh garment industry has set an export target of US $ 50 billion by 2021 and the accessories sector can help attaining the target if the Government provides policy support, said Abdul Kader Khan, President of BGAPMEA.
“We will be able to contribute about US $ 12 billion to attain the target,” he added. In the last fiscal year, deemed export earnings of garment accessories and packaging stood at US $ 6.70 billion, which is 9.47 per cent higher compared to US $ 6.12 billion in the FY 2016.
Currently, Bangladesh has the ability to meet over 95 per cent of the local demand, while we are now exporting to some other countries, the BGAPMEA leader further added.
GAPEXPO will further support the sector generate more order bookings during the 4-day course. A total of 278 companies from 17 countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lankan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Italy, France, USA and Turkey will display garments accessories and packaging items with machinery at the exhibition.
