The flourishing brassieres industry of the USA is evolving at much faster rate after pandemic woes. According to the latest data of OTEXA, the country has imported US $ 840.28 million worth of brassieres in Q1 ’22, noting 24.58 per cent Y-o-Y growth.
Brassieres products that include categories such as shapewear and foundation garments are still being sourced majorly from China as other destinations are yet to develop required capacities for manufacturing this product segment at large scale.
The US imported US $ 286.33 million worth of brassieres from China during Jan.-Mar. ’22 period and the shipment value grew by 29 per cent.
It’s worth noting here that China’s share in the total US apparel import hovers around 23 per cent but, in brassieres, China contributes nearly 34 per cent of the brassieres import values of the US.
Second in the list was Vietnam that shipped US $ 162.47 million worth of brassieres to USA in the mentioned period, increasing by around 20.22 per cent over the corresponding period of 2021.
Indonesia performed well and the imports of brassieres by the US from this Asian country reached US $ 95.95 million, noting a significant growth of 69.66 per cent. Whereas, Sri Lanka too noted 19.81 per cent yearly growth in Q1 ’22 and shipped US $ 74.19 million worth of brassieres to the USA.
Bangladesh continued growing and the US brassieres buyers sourced US $ 56.04 million worth of products from Bangladesh, registering 32.30 per cent growth over the same period of 2021.
