In what is seen as an indication of industries in Bangladesh trying to reduce their dependence on diesel which has witnessed price hikes recently, there has been a threefold increase in the number of users of industrial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the recent months.
Reports further added around 25,000 tonnes of LPG were sold to industries in November compared to what was around 8,000 tonnes prior to August even as around 145,000 tonnes of LPG were sold last month, which included all other uses such as in households and restaurants.
To give an idea of the price difference between LPG and diesel, reports added as of 7th November, price of LPG was Taka 104.26 per kilogramme compared to that of Taka 109 for a litre of diesel, which in August was around Taka 80.
It may be mentioned here industries in Bangladesh have had to deal with energy and power crises lately including the textile sector, which had an adverse impact on their production.
