The recent spate of order cancellations by the global buyers that have put the readymade garment manufacturing industry of Bangladesh in a precarious position has been dubbed as an ‘irresponsible act’ by none other than the Foreign Minister of the country.
As per media reports, Foreign Minister AKM Abdul Momen during his recent telephonic discussion with Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Simon Coveney said that such irresponsible behaviour by overseas entities was adversely affecting the RMG sector and its 4 million workers.
Momen also called upon the Irish buyers to honour the contracts signed with their suppliers for importing of apparel items.
He made this appeal considering the severe economic implications of such acts in view of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
