The Commonwealth of Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CIS-BCCI) recently highlighted the potentiality of Russia for Bangladesh, in order to augment the export of apparel items, accessories and leather goods along with pharmaceuticals, seafoods and other products, in a bid to diversify the export markets even if Bangladesh’s export is still predominantly focused on the USA and the European Union.
President of the CIS-BCCI, Mohammad Habib Ullah Dawn, during his recent meeting with the newly appointed Russian Ambassador in Dhaka Alexander Vikentyevich Mantytskiy, highlighted the same, in which was also present the CIS-BCCI Board of Directors.
As per media reports, Mohammad Habib Ullah Dawn also underscored the need for improving connectivity with Russia through shipping cargo, warehouse facilities in Russia and adequate banking facilities for smooth transaction while also expressed hope that with the establishing of Inter Government Commission (IGC), the mutual trade and economic cooperation between the two countries will deepen and become more broad-based even as the Russian envoy stated both Russia and Bangladesh are engaged in deep friendship right after the Liberation War of Bangladesh and thus the scope for bilateral trade and commerce has been widened even as he appreciated the role of CIS Chamber in fostering close business ties with Russia and stressed on expediting the operation of roadmap to implement the decisions of second protocol of IGC and for improving business to business cooperation between the two nations.
