The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), which is the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, on 15 August, observed the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day-2021.
According to reports, in the first part of the programme, BGMEA leaders led by President Faruque Hassan placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the premises of Sparrow Apparels, in which was present BGMEA Vice-President Miran Ali, former Member of Parliament and Vice Chairman of Sparrow Group Chayan Islam, BGMEA Directors Abdullah Hil Rakib, Haroon Ar Rashid, Rajiv Chowdhury, Asif Ashraf, Tanvir Ahmed, Barrister Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md. Imranur Rahman, Managing Director of Sparrow Group Shovon Islam and Director of Giant Group Sharmeen Hassan Tithi, amongst others, while in the second part of the programme, food was distributed amongst the orphans at Shahabuddin Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage in Gazipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Faruque Hassan maintained Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla was now becoming reality under the prudent and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is his daughter, even as he added that Bangladesh is now a role model in the world in terms of exports, poverty reduction, per capita income, investment and GDP growth.
