Brassieres import by USA in April ’20 has shown some signs of positivity for some exporting countries, according to OTEXA data which is analysed by Apparel Resources.
Though USA fell by 36.73 per cent to import US $ 122.50 million worth of brassieres in the month of April, countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh and Cambodia escalated in their respective exports to USA.

Apparel Resources reached out to Imtiaz Shuvo, GM (Marketing and Merchandising), Mahdeen Group – one of the emerging and prominent lingerie manufacturers in Bangladesh – and discussed the way forward for the country.
“During late March and April, some factories (including lingerie units) in Chittagong were operational. Majority of units in Dhaka remained closed so we have to wait till May data comes out as dispatch done in April will reflect in US May data,” informed Imtiaz.
Cambodia too reported growth of 83.95 per cent in brassieres exports to USA in April. However, export value was as low as US $ 4.38 million but it is still higher than what the country had exported (US $ 2.38 million) in April ’19.
Last but not the least, China noted a massive downfall of 44.62 per cent even in the export of brassieres category to USA and accommodated US $ 40.75 million in April ’20 as compared to US $ 73.58 million in April ’19.
