The DIFE or the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments, which is an autonomous Government agency responsible for health and safety inspection in factories and industries in Bangladesh, for the first time, started inspecting factories that are under the jurisdiction of the Export Processing Zone (EPZ).
Media reports maintained this while adding DIFE Inspector General Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed recently inspected two local factories and two foreign factories — on 16 October, DIFE Inspector General inspected Deshbandhu Textile Mills Limited and Ventura Leatherware MFY (BD) Limited, while a couple of days earlier on 14 October, he inspected Section Seven International Limited and Mazen (Bangladesh) Industries Limited — at the Uttara EPZ, situated at Syedpur in Nilphamari District.
The DIFE Inspector General, reportedly, also exchanged views with the authorities of the concerned manufacturing units, while also visiting the EPZ’s medical centres, schools, colleges and security barracks.
