The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association or BGMEA, which is the apex body of the apparel manufacturers in Bangladesh, has contributed Taka 5 crore to the Prime Minister’s fund, aimed at helping the poor families hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a press note issued in this direction, Faruque Hassan, the President of the garment makers’ body handed over a cheque of Taka 5 crore to the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office on 10 June (Thursday) even as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accepted the donation through video conferencing from her official residence.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, who handed over the cheque in the programme attended also by BGMEA Vice-President (Finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Former BGMEA President Abdus Salam Murshedy, First Vice-President Syed Nazrul Islam and Vice-President Md Shahidullah Azim, specially thanked Ecotex Group, Pioneer Group, Labib Group, AKH Group, Aba Group, Urmi Group and Sharmin Group for stepping forward and contribute to the Prime Minister’s fund to help the Covid-hit poor families.
