To ensure seamless and hassle-free implementation of the latest wage structure, Bangladesh Government in tandem with 29 committees to monitor the same has reportedly also launched a helpline to facilitate the process.
“We have formed 29 committees comprising of representatives from the Department of Inspections for Factories and Establishments [DIFE] and the Department of Labour to monitor the labour situation round the clock and the wage implementation in the factories to keep the situation peaceful.” – Begum Monnujan Sufian, State Minister for Labour and Employment, Bangladesh
The helpline will reportedly remain operational 24/7 so as to ensure garments workers are able to register any complaint, free of charge. The DIFE will reportedly operate the helpline and its number, 16357, will be exhibited in all factories.
Speaking on the occasion Sufian further observed that labour situation in the country is normal now while claiming that garment workers have already joined their workplaces upon publishing the gazette notification on the new wage structure.
