The Labour Ministry– in collaboration with the ILO (International Labour Organisation)–recently launched employment injury protection scheme for the Bangladesh garment workers.
Media reports maintained this adding the scheme launched on 21 June aims to provide income protection to the victims of work-related accidents and occupational diseases even if with the inauguration of the ILO scheme in association with the Netherlands and Germany, workers employed in the country’s apparel sector will get enhanced social security through income protection.
Salman F Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the pilot scheme at a hotel in capital Dhaka.
