Bangladesh Government will amend the labour laws in the country this year.
This was, reportedly, maintained by the Secretary to the Labour and Employment Ministry, Md Ehsan-E-Elahi.
Addressing an event, Md Ehsan-E-Elahi, reportedly, said the Government has formed two committees which will bring amendments to the labour law by 31 December even as he added, ‘it will be a better law that will help to maintain decent work in the industrial sectors.’
The Secretary further, reportedly, added Bangladesh recently ratified ILO Convention 138 to fix the minimum working age at 14 years even as addressing the event (‘First Industrial Safety Forum in Bangladesh’ jointly organised by the ILO and the Center for Policy Dialogue), Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, reportedly, observed the industrial sectors, not only garments, including that of leather have tremendous potential in the world market.
