Amidst rising bilateral trade between Bangladesh and USA, the latter has decided to have a commercial attaché posted in its embassy in Dhaka by this year.
This has, reportedly, been maintained by the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, Peter D Haas, recently.
The US envoy also, reportedly, underlined with rising bilateral business ties, many US companies are expressing interest at investing in Bangladesh even as he suggested Bangladesh should diversify its exports more so as pharmaceuticals and goods related to information technology have a lot of potential apart from garments, while also calling for improving labour standards to attract more FDI from USA.
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh exported goods worth US $ 10.41 billion to the US last fiscal year, which included apparels worth US $ 9.01 billion.
Bangladesh also imported goods worth more than US $ 3 billion from USA as well.
