Collaboration involving business communities and trade associations to open opportunities of deriving two-way trade benefits while complementing one another to in the development of apparel and textile sectors were emphasised upon at a recent meeting between the BGMEA and a delegation of Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) in Dhaka recently.
According to media reports, the TTF delegation led by its President Justin Huang had called on BGMEA President Faruque Hassan in Dhaka recently even as both the sides discussed various issues of mutual interests pertaining to the apparel and textile sector.
Taking part in the discussion, Faruque Hassan reportedly maintained Bangladesh is the second largest apparel exporter globally whereas Taiwan has a strong textile industry with considerable strengths in non-cotton segment while adding since Bangladesh has been strongly focusing on diversifying from cotton to non-cotton products, Taiwan can play an important role in meeting the Bangladesh apparel sector’s demand for man-made fibbers, polyester filament, nylon fibres and other fabrics even as both the sides discussed how both associations (BGMEA and TTF) could work together to build interactive connections between apparel and textile entrepreneurs of both the countries and facilitate meaningful business relations.
