Pakistan has witnessed a significant surge of 0.78 per cent in cotton yarn and 0.51 per cent in cotton cloth production during the first three quarters of the current financial year as compared to the corresponding period last year. Notably, during July 2016-March 2017, 2.572 million tonnes of cotton yarn was produced as compared to 2.552 million tonnes in the same period last year.
Also, it is pertinent to note that Pakistan recorded cotton cloth production of 87,500 thousand square metres in March 2017 as against 86,500 square metres in March 2016.

The Pakistan media reports say that domestic yarn production was recorded at 287,450 tonnes in March 2017 as against 282,695 tonnes in March 2016. The reports further added that during the last 9 months, around 784.250 million square metres of cotton cloth were produced, compared to 780.233 million square metres in the corresponding period last year.
